Illinois

We’re thrilled to partner with the State of Illinois to bring our industry-leading track-and-trace system to the medical and adult-use cannabis markets, ensuring regulatory compliance.

Our team has already begun collaborating with the state agency to establish effective communication channels, schedules, and processes to ensure a seamless license deployment.

Stay tuned for more updates, which we’ll share in partnership with the Illinois Cannabis Regulation Oversight Office (CROO). We’re excited to work with you to achieve a successful implementation in Illinois!

Metrc is the leading provider of cannabis regulatory technology systems in the United States. Our solution combines advanced software, radio-frequency identification (RFID), a dedicated customer support team, and a secure database to track cannabis from growth, harvest, and processing to testing, transport, and sale. Metrc is currently engaged in 28 government contracts and serves more than 500,000 users, including growers, testing facilities, dispensaries, and state regulators.

Currently, we are working with the Illinois Cannabis Regulation Oversight Office (CROO), the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), the Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA), and other agencies towards a Summer 2025 go-live for licensees to be active in Metrc and fully moved over from the BioTrack system. As this timeline progresses, there will be additional milestones communicated to licensees from the licensing agency, the State’s webpage, and on Metrc’s Illinois partner page.

Now that the contract is signed, Metrc and the State of Illinois are working towards an implementation plan with milestones that will be communicated externally. We will share regular updates with licensees on our Illinois partner page on Metrc.com.
